Privacy policy¶
Last updated: 19 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data is processed in connection with Issue Link Guard for Jira (the "app"), its documentation website and our support, who is responsible for it, and what rights you have.
Who we are¶
The app is provided by Bartosz Boratyński BTB IT, a sole proprietorship registered in Poland in the Central Registration and Information on Business (CEIDG), NIP (tax ID) 1182048615 ("we", "us").
Contact for all privacy matters: support@btb-it.com
Summary¶
- The app runs entirely on Atlassian's cloud platform (Atlassian Forge). It sends no data to us or to any other outside service.
- The only personal data the app stores is Atlassian account IDs. It stores no names, email addresses, passwords or issue content.
- That data stays in your Jira site's storage on Atlassian's infrastructure, in the same location as your Jira data. We keep no copy of it.
- Your Jira administrator decides how long the app's activity log is kept, can anonymize it or turn it off.
Data the app processes in your Jira site¶
When you use the app, it processes data in your Jira site on behalf of the organization that installed it. That organization decides how the app is used; with respect to this data we act on its instructions.
| Data | What it is used for | Where it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| Account ID of the person who created or removed a link through the app, the time, the link type and the issues involved | The activity log shown on issues: who linked what and when | The app's database in Atlassian Forge hosted storage |
| Account IDs, group IDs and project role IDs listed in a project's link rules | Deciding who may use which link type | Forge hosted storage |
| Account ID of the person who last changed a project's settings or turned the technical account on | Showing "last changed by" to administrators | Forge hosted storage |
| Account IDs reported to Atlassian | Atlassian's personal data reporting, see below | Forge hosted storage |
| Link type, direction and issue IDs of links added through a picker field | Showing in the picker only the links it created | An issue property in your Jira site |
Names and other profile details are read from Jira when they are displayed and are not stored by the app.
How long the data is kept¶
- Activity log: 24 months by default. A Jira administrator can choose a different period (1 to 60 months, or no automatic deletion), anonymize entries automatically or on demand, delete entries, or turn the log off. See Data and privacy.
- Project settings and rules: until they are changed, the project is deleted, or the app is uninstalled.
- Closed Atlassian accounts: every 7 days the app reports the account IDs it stores to Atlassian, as Atlassian requires from all apps. When Atlassian reports an account as closed, the app removes that person from the activity log, from "last changed by" and from project rules.
- After uninstalling the app: Atlassian deletes the app's data from Forge hosted storage. It is first kept for a short period (about 28 days) so it can be recovered if the app was removed by mistake, and then destroyed. Picker link lists stay on the issues as issue properties; they contain no personal data.
Who has access¶
The data is visible in Jira to users who can view the related issues (activity log) or administer the project or Jira (settings and rules). We do not access it outside of the app's normal operation.
The app's technical logs, which we can see through Atlassian's developer tools, contain event types, counts, error codes and issue or project keys, but no account IDs, names or issue content.
The app is hosted by Atlassian as part of its Forge platform. Atlassian's own privacy policy applies to Atlassian's processing: atlassian.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Data we process as a business¶
For our own purposes we are the controller of the following data:
| Data | Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR) | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contact details and license information that Atlassian shares with us through the Atlassian Marketplace (for example the technical and billing contacts of your organization) | Providing the app, licensing, important service notices | Performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) | As long as the license is active and as required by accounting law afterwards |
| Messages you send to support@btb-it.com and the details you include | Answering support requests | Our legitimate interest in providing support (Art. 6(1)(f)) | Up to 24 months after the request is closed |
| Invoices and payment records, if any | Accounting and tax obligations | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) | As required by Polish law (generally 5 years) |
Documentation website¶
The documentation at issuelinkguard.btb-it.com is hosted by GitHub (GitHub Pages). It sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. GitHub may log technical data such as IP addresses to operate and secure the service; see the GitHub Privacy Statement.
The site remembers your choice of light or dark theme in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device and is not sent to us.
Service providers¶
| Provider | Service | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Atlassian | Hosting of the app (Forge) and the Atlassian Marketplace | Same location as your Jira site |
| OVHcloud | Email hosting for support@btb-it.com | European Union |
| GitHub | Hosting of the documentation website | United States; transfers covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses |
We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.
Your rights¶
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
For data the app stores in your Jira site, please contact your Jira administrator first: they can view, anonymize and delete activity log entries in the app. You can also write to us at support@btb-it.com and we will help.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, uodo.gov.pl).
Changes to this policy¶
We will publish any changes on this page and update the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app's release notes.
